Kerala records 39,955 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, test positivity rate at 28.61; 97 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 39,955 COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Among these, 36,841 persons developed the disease through contact, including 2788 cases without an identified source of infection. 217 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 109 health workers contracted the disease on Thursday.

33,733 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 4,38,913 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 97 deaths due to the virus on Thursday with the toll rising to 6150.

1,39,656 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 28.61.

With the addition of 102 new regions and the removal of 3, there are 740 hotspots in the state.
