Congress criticises move to increase gap between two doses of Covishield vaccine

modi

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has questioned the transparency of the vaccination process after a high-level committee directed the central government to increase the gap between the two doses of the Covishield vaccine. Jairam Ramesh asked whether any transparency can be expected from the Modi government.

'First, it was 4 weeks for the 2nd dose, then 6-8 weeks & now we are told 12-16 weeks. Is this because there are not enough stocks of the vaccines for all who are eligible or because professional scientific advice says so?', Jairam Ramesh tweeted.

Government panel National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) has recommended increasing the gap between two doses of Covishield to 12-16 weeks, unlike the earlier 8-week gap. However, there was no change in the gap between Covaxin doses.
