Will watch the ceremony in-home via TV; UDF has decided not to take part in oath-taking ceremony

chief-minister-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF has decided not to take part in the oath-taking ceremony of the second Pinarayi Vijayan government. UDF convenor M M Hassan has said that no MLAs, MPs or other leaders from the opposition will participate in the oath-taking ceremony. UDF leadership said that when the state is reeling under the grip of a second Covid wave, conducting such a luxurious ceremony where 500 guests will participate, is inappropriate.

The UDF leaders have decided to watch the oath-taking ceremony via TV from their homes. They also said that the ceremony coils have been undertaken in a low-key manner in the Raj Bhavan and by abstaining from the ceremony they will be able to convey their message to the people.

LDF has decided to conduct the oath-taking ceremony by inviting 500 guests which include 140 MLAs and 20 MPs. Widespread condemnation and protests were registered in social media and in other platforms about the luxurious oath-taking ceremony as it is conducted at a time when all the people of the state are compelled to stay back at their homes due to the covid induced lockdown.
