THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The venue constructed at Central Stadium for the swearing in of the second Pinarayi government, will not be demolished. The decision was made to turn this place into a vaccination centre. An order in this regard will be issued tomorrow.

Earlier, Dr SS Lal, a prominent health expert and Congress candidate from Kazhakoottam, had demanded that the venue should not be demolished and be turned into a vaccination center.

"It is known that the huge venue, which is 80,000 square feet wide, can accommodate up to five thousand people. A spacious structure with good ventilation. The pandal should not be demolished for the time being as there are no sports events in the stadium at the moment. This pandal should be used for Covid vaccination. Especially for the elderly. There was a huge rush at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium to receive the vaccination, including the elderly", Lal said.

He said in his Facebook post that allocating the pandal for vaccination could be seen as a show of gratitude to the public for their contribution to the government's vaccine challenge.
