THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala will also try for the production of the COVID vaccine. The CM said that the government was looking into the possibility of opening a branch of the vaccine company and would consider whether the vaccine could be manufactured at the Institute of Virology. Discussions are underway for this, the CM said during the press meet.
"Scientists in Medicine and Allied Sciences have developed a drug to treat COVID. This drug, which is an antiviral drug that prevents the spread of the virus, has received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). This drug can help reduce the oxygen dependence of non-critical patients," he said. The CM added that 50,000 doses of this drug have been ordered.
