Covid-19: Kerala to tighten curbs in Malappuram, action plan to be implemented

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the restrictions will be tightened in Malappuram district where the Covid test positivity rate continues to be high. He told the media that an action plan would be implemented to control the spread of the disease in the district. He said it was decided to conduct about 75,000 Covid inspections in the district on next Monday and Tuesday.

In addition, more policemen will be deployed in the district for this special task. Strict inspections are being carried out in Malappuram district under the leadership of the district administration to ensure effective implementation of the existing regulations. Police have been directed to take all legal action against those violating the regulations.

The ADGP and the IG of the north zone are camping in Malappuram and leading the process. Triple lockdowns in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts were lifted this morning. There is a triple lockdown in Malappuram district and lockdown in all other districts, the CM said. Earlier, due to the Covid situation, the triple lockdown came into effect simultaneously in all the four districts.
