Lathika Subhash to join NCP, holds talks with P C Chacko

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Mahila Congress chief Lathika Subhash to join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). She held talks with NCP state chief P C Chacko. The official announcement will be made soon.

‘I held preliminary discussions with P C Chacko. He is a Congress leader since I have seen from my childhood. Talks are in progress. I am not going to the NCP for any posts, the Congress is a traditional party,” she said. More information will be informed soon, she added.

Lathika Subhash left the party in protest against the Congress for not giving her a seat in the assembly elections. She had also protested by tonsuring her head. She later contested independently from Ettumanoor and polled 7,624 votes.

The Congress had earlier expelled Lathika Subhash for anti-party activities. Meantime, A K Saseendran welcomed her to the party. He said the NCP would give due consideration to those coming from the Congress party, he said.
