Police arrest Rajan P Dev’s son Unni Raj for suicide of wife

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police Tuesday arrested Unni Raj, son of actor Rajan P Dev in connection with the suicide of his wife Priyanka. He was arrested from Angamaly early this morning by a team led by Nedumangad DySP. His brother-in-law had lodged a complaint against him.

Unni married Priyanka hailing from Vembayam in Thiruvananthapuram in November 2019 after knowing each other for one and a half years. Her family alleged that Unni and his mother started harassing her for dowry three months after marriage. They said that Unni Raj grabbed money from them for various purposes.

He demanded money from Priyanka's family for buying a flat in Kochi and also to buy a car. An amount of Rs three lakh was given on several occasions. Her family said they asked her to leave the house in Angamaly. The family had handed over the footages of the assault to the police.

Priyanka was found hanging at her house in Vembayam. She had lodged a complaint against him on the previous day of the incident, at the Vattapara police station. Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
