PALAKKAD: Rs nine lakh has been recovered from the house of Martin, the sixth accused in the Kodakara hawala money laundering case. The money was kept inside the metal. The investigating team has found that Martin had bought a car and gold after the robbery.

He bought the Innova car for Rs 3 lakh and gold of Rs 3.5 lakh after the robbery. He had also paid Rs 4 lakh in the bank.

An amount of Rs 3.5 crore and a car were robbed by the gang on the Kodakara flyover on April 3 when elections were round the corner. However, a complaint lodged by an industrialist and RSS activist Dharmajan through his driver Shamjeer said they lost Rs 25 lakh. Of the 3.5 core lost, only one crore has been found. More are questioned to get a clarity on the source of income and to recover the remaining amount.

The investigating team is questioning BJP Alappuzha district treasurer K G Kartha in connection with the case. He is questioned at the Alappuzha police training centre. More BJP leaders would be questioned in the coming days.
