THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala gets temporary respite from the acute shortage of medicines for black fungus disease. The medicines allotted by the central government upon the directions of the state government have finally reached Kerala. Liposomal Amphotericin is the medicine sent by the centre.
The centre has allotted 240 vials of medicines to Kerala. This will be distributed among hospitals soon. Earlier the acute shortage of medicines for black fungus which was detected in various districts in Kerala, including Kozhikode has sparked off a controversy.
Patients outside Kerala are reaching Kozhikode medical college. On Wednesday, patients from Mangalore and Delhi reached Kozhikode. But as the hospital ran out of medicines, authorities had decided not to admit more patients of black fungus to the hospital.
