THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An MLA from the state is going to be sworn in again due to the mistake that occurred while taking oath the other day. Devikulam MLA A Raja will take the oath of office again at the Speaker's chamber. His swearing in in Tamil caught a lot of attention.
While swearing in, he did not say whether the oath was in the name of god or by solemn affirmation. This is pointed as a mistake when the law department translated it. The MLAs in the assembly had sworn in four languages like Malayalam, English, Kannada and Tamil.
43 had sworn in the name of god, 13 in Allah’s name and 80 by solemn affirmation. Manjeswaram MLA A K M Ashraf grabbed attention as he took the pledge in Kannada language and he initiated the linguistic diversity in the assembly.
Pala MLA Mani C Kappan and Muvattupuzha MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan were sworn-in in English. Devikulam MLA A Raja took the oath in Tamil like his predecessor K Rajendran. CPM candidate A Raja won from Devikulam with a majority of 7848 votes.
