mullappally-ramachandran-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mullappally Ramachandran said that he has stepped down from the post of KPCC chief and is continuing only technically till the selection of the new president. As the chief stepping down will not suggest any names for the post, he said. He said this while talking to Kerala Kaumudi Online.

What is your decision as KPCC chief?
I am continuing in the post only technically. I am waiting for the selection of the new chief.

Had the high command asked you to quit the post?
Whether informed or not, I have conveyed things to Soniaji. I spoke to her about it twice. After talking on the phone once, she called me after five minutes.

What did you tell her?
That’s all party secrets. I cannot reveal all that.

Will you inform the high command your stand on the new chief?
The high command will decide a person best suited for the party and one capable of leading the party. I will not suggest the name of anyone, whether X or Y.

What is your future politics after stepping down?
My political career started since I was a student. I'm never a professional politician. I have not seen politics as a means of survival. All this is part of dedication. Therefore, there is no retirement in political life.

Are you satisfied with your stint as KPCC chief?
I am totally satisfied. There is no need of a dissatisfaction to be in my life. I don’t do anything against my conscience. I have honestly and sincerely completed all the assignments in life.

Only the poll debacle is worrying?
Of course it is there. Millions of congress workers and party lovers in this country are worried about the failure of the Congress, a democratic secular movement. I too have the same feeling.

Do you think you are blamed for the poll debacle?
As KPCC chief, I should take the responsibility for the party’s failure in the assembly polls. I don’t want to put the blame on others. It is not part of my political history or heritage.

What is your advice to group leaders? Is it to lead the party well?
I don’t have that opinion. The congressmen should have unity and move forward unitedly. This is a great democratic and secular movement. Any weakness caused to this movement will be one related to this country.
