KOCHI: The Kerala High Court sought centre’s stand on KPCC secretary K P Noushad Ali’s plea against the reforms in Lakshadweep. The court has asked to give a reply in two weeks’ time.
The legal reforms of the administrator in Lakshadweep are leading to huge protests. The petitioner wanted to prevent unconstitutional and illegal activities that dent the traditional way of life and culture of the residents of the island.
The court sought Centre's stance on the matter. However, centre’s counsel sought more time for the matter and following that, the court asked to give a reply in two weeks.
The court sought an explanation without going into the merits of the case. Although the petitioner requested to suspend the reforms, the court refused to stay the reforms introduced by the administrator. The court informed that the plaintiffs' claims could not be considered.
