THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan came down heavily on the policy address of the second LDF Government. He said that they expected new announcements in main departments of health, education and disaster management, but it did not happen.

Online-digital classes are being conducted during Covid times. An alternative policy in the field of education was expected at the policy address but did not occur. The epidemic may be accompanied by other disasters like in previous years. A new disaster management plan was necessary to prevent it effectively. That also was expected during the policy address. However, there was no announcement on it, said Satheesan.

An announcement on a new health policy was expected at a time when there is a possibility of a third wave of Covid. The government claims to have been able to reduce the death toll. There are many complaints about it. Many who die of post-Covid complications are not included in the list. It is unfortunate. The death rates should not be reduced deliberately, he said.
