death

KADAKKAVUR: A Welfare Fund Board employee and her eight-year-old daughter were found dead in a well in front of their house. The deceased have been identified as Bindu (34) and his daughter Devyani (8) of Vaniyanvilakam house in Nilakkamukku in Kadakkavur. The bodies were found around 6.30 am yesterday during a search conducted after the two were not found at home.

Bindu, who was a clerk in Thirunavaya panchayath, was deputed to the Shops and Commercial Welfare Fund Office in Thiruvananthapuram six months ago.

Bindu's husband Praveen died on March 31 after falling into a well in their backyard near their house. Praveen was an employee of a private bank and later started a medical shop in Attingal's Vanchiyoor. It is learned that he committed suicide due to financial obligations. Relatives say Praveen's death and financial obligations has been bothering Bindu.

Kadakkavur police and Varkala fire brigade reached the spot and recovered the bodies. CCTV footage from near a temple showed them leaving at around 10.30 pm. No suicide note or other evidence has yet been found in connection with the incident. Bindu's phone is being checked by the police. Police said they were gathering more information from colleagues, neighbors and relatives.
