Bringing badge and placard to assembly is not a new thing; K K Rema’s issue is not serious violation of oath

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Secretariat of legislative assembly has found that RMP leader and Vadakara MLA K K Rema wearing the badge with her husband’s image during the oath-taking ceremony of legislative assembly members does not amount to serious violation of oath. The assembly secretariat said that during the days of protest, assembly members do bring badges and placards to the house.

But as the wearing of badges will give a wrong message the speaker will warn the MLA. The code of conduct of assembly makes it clear that such exhibitionism is not allowed in the house. The Speaker has also said that every member of the assembly should abide by these rules.

However, K K Rema has earlier said that as her presence is in the assembly will again bring back things related to her husband’s murder back to the limelight, the oath violation jibe on her is just a counter-strategy of CPM. She has also said that there is a clear intervention of AKG centre in these issues. It does not involve violation of oath, it is an organised political move and it cannot be considered as even vengeful politics.
