Two more black fungus deaths in Kerala; acute drug shortage in Kozhikode Medical College

PALAKKAD: Two more people have died due to black fungus infection in the state. The deceased are Palakkad Kottassery native Vasantha and a middle-aged man from Kollam.

Vasantha was undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College. She was initially admitted to the Mannarkkad Taluk Hospital after she tested positive for COVID. She was later shifted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital for specialist treatment. She showed symptoms of black fungus while undergoing treatment here. The middle-aged man from Kollam died on Sunday evening while undergoing treatment at Paripally Medical College.

Drug shortage in Kozhikode Medical College

Kozhikode Medical College, where a large number of patients are being treated, is still facing a severe shortage of medicines. Not even a single vial of Liposomal Amphotericin is left in the hospital. A minimum of 50 fields is required here. At present,18 patients are undergoing treatment here.
