20,000 crore’s Covid package to face pandemic; 8,000 crore to reach people directly, says FM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K N Balagopal has started presenting the first budget of the second Pinarayi government in the assembly. Presenting the budget, he said the government's policy is to ensure health and food. Balagopal said Thomas Isaac's budget was comprehensive and a proud growth is taking place in Kerala.

Kerala faced the tragedy unitedly. Continuity of government is not a mere success. Continuity is the success of democracy. The government gives top priority to health care. Health emergencies are a challenge to development. The minister also lauded the people of Kerala for their historic victory.

The first Pinarayi government faced a ruthless attack. All proposals in Isaac's budget will be implemented. The government will strictly implement the promises mentioned in the manifesto. The state's GDP fell by 3.8 per cent. Delay in GST compensation is creating a major financial crisis.
