THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An all-party meeting decided to appoint an expert committee to study the issues related to the minority scholarship verdict. Discussions will be held with all the parties affected by the High Court verdict. It was agreed at the meeting to reach a decision by coordinating the legal examination, the study appointed by the expert committee and practical suggestions.
The CM said a legal inquiry will be conducted into how to proceed. Discussion will be held with legal experts. An expert committee will conduct the study. Healthy practical suggestions will also be considered. The government wants consensus in every sense. The CM said that today's meeting should be seen as first and it could be discussed again.
All parties agreed that the general atmosphere created by the society should not be compromised.
Opposition parties, including the Congress and the Muslim League, have demanded that those currently receiving scholarship benefits not lose out.
The Chief Minister convened an all-party meeting today to assess the situation following the High Court judgment on the issue of minority scholarships in the state. A bench headed by the Chief Justice quashed a government order granting right to 80 percent of minority scholarships under the state government to Muslim minorities and 20 percent to backward Christian communities.
