KASARGOD: K Sundara, who revealed that Rs 2.5 lakh and phone were given to withdraw from the candidature in Manjeswaram, Sunday said the BJP leaders are threatening him. The leaders want me to say that the money was not given. They asked his mother to say that the money was not accepted, revealed Sundara.

It was wrong to have accepted the money to withdraw the nomination papers. The money received will not be returned. The whole amount has been spent. The revelation now was not due to any pressure, he said.

Sundara had revealed that the BJP gave him Rs 2.5 lakh and a phone to withdraw his nomination papers filed in Manjewswaram. He said that he demanded Rs 15 lakh but gave only Rs 2.5 lakh. Sundara had mentioned that a Redmi phone was also given. He sent the revelations to the media from this phone.

Sundara had yesterday asserted that BJP state president K Surendran had promised a wine parlour if he won the election and that the money was paid by BJP leaders in the constituency. Sundara, who contested polls in 2016 as an independent got 467 votes. Surendran lost by 89 votes then.
