THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Gopi has been asked by the BJP central leadership to submit a report on the party’s humiliating defeat in the Kerala assembly polls. The actor’s report will be crucial for all state leaders including K Surendran, say sources.

If the actor gives a report blaming the state leadership then Surendran will be answerable to the central leadership. Another challenge against Surendran is the allegations surfaced against him in connection with the Kodakara hawala case. In the reports submitted by E Sreedharan, CV Anand Bose and Jacob Thomas as per the central leadership’s directive, all three have blamed the state leadership for the party’s dismal performance in the elections.

The central leadership’s actions come when the state leaders are in a defenceless position following the poll defeat and the controversies which ensued. The inability of state leadership to retain the sitting seat of Nemom and their failed efforts to add more seats to the saffron party’s account was a shock to the central leadership.

With this, the demand for a change in the state leadership has got further strengthened within the party. Along with this, the report to be submitted by Suresh Gopi on the party’s election defeat will create more ramifications for the party in the days to come.
