On question of why Rs 92 lakh is needed to beautify CM’s official residence, ancient buildings need to be protected, replies FM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition came down heavily on spending Rs 92 lakh to beautify chief minister’s official residence Cliff House. This was raised by P T Thomas. P T Thomas asked in the assembly how such a huge amount is spent. However, ancient buildings need to be protected, replied Finance Minister K N Balagopal.

The Uralungal Labour Contract Society has prepared the estimate for the renovation works. The order for renovating restrooms for security guards, drivers, gunmen and attendants of Cliff House at a cost of Rs 92 lakh has been sanctioned.

When the new government assumed office, ministers often order repairs and changes at their official residences and offices. Renovation work has started at the Cliff House.
