THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P T Thomas MLA said shocking information is being revealed in connection with the illegal felling of trees from plantations at Muttil in Wayanad. Trees of 100 years old were felled. They misled the adivasis saying 60% of the money goes to the government, alleged Thomas. Top level efforts are on to save the forest looters, he said.

It is heard that the looters have joined forest minister’s party. He should clarify whether an important person in the media intervened in this. To officials tried to trap a range officer who tried to take action in the Muttil felling, alleged Thomas in the assembly.

Two ministers should immediately respond to the incident. The probe announced by Minister A K Saseendran is a skin treatment. What has happened in the smuggling of trees is a big loot. The bigwigs involved in it should be found. If the government is interested, let a probe monitored by the high court be held. The investigation of the case is like looking for a black cat in the dark. The chief minister was fixed for the inauguration of mango mobile and it should not be missed by any of us, he said.
