Kerala records 12,246 COVID cases on Tuesday, test positivity rate at 11.76; 166 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 12,246 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Among these, 11,459 persons developed the disease through contact, including 633 cases without an identified source of infection. 85 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 69 health workers contracted the disease on Tuesday.

13,536 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,12,361 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 166 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 11,508.

District wise breakup of positive cases:
Ernakulam 1702, Kollam 1597, Thiruvananthapuram 1567, Thrissur 1095, Malappuram 1072, Palakkad 1066, Alappuzha 887, Kozhikode 819, Kannur 547, Idukki 487, Pathanamthitta 480, Kottayam 442, Kasargod 301, Wayanad 184.

1,04,120 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 11.76.

With the addition of 10 regions and the removal of 1 region, there are 889 hotspots in the state.
