THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman who sustained injuries when the lift in the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) collapsed. She has been identified as Nadeera (22) of Kundayam Charuvila House. She died Thursday early morning. She was undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital after sustaining injuries on her brain and thighs. The incident happened on May 15. There was no warning that the lift was malfunctioning.
Nadeera, who was with her mother Naseema undergoing treatment at the RCC, fell when she stepped on the platform of the lift. She got stuck and was lying there for nearly two hours. The security personnel of the hospital later found her lying motionless.
Her relatives had earlier lodged a complaint with the commissioner seeking legal action against the employees who kept the lift opened without giving any warning. Hospital authorities had expelled the employee of the electrical department in the incident.
