KOCHI: Popular Malayalam poet and lyricist S. Ramesan Nair (73) passed away. He died at a private hospital in Kochi. He had tested positive for Covid and was a cancer patient. Nair tested negative for Covid two days back.
Ramesan Nair won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award in 2018 for his collection of poems Guru Pournami. He also won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Comprehensive Contribution in 2010, the Sixth Vennikulam Memorial Award and the Asan Award.
He has worked as a sub-editor at the Kerala Language Institute and as a producer on All India Radio. His wife is P Rema, a writer and retired teacher of Thrissur Vivekodayam School. His only son Manu Ramesan is a music director.
