KOLLAM: Former Chairman of the CPI State Control Commission Prof. Veliyam Rajan (85) passed away. He died at a private hospital in Kollam yesterday morning while undergoing treatment for old-age-related diseases.
He was born in Veliyam Vazhottu family to Narayanan and Nani Amma. While studying at Kottarakkara English Higher Secondary School, he entered politics through AISF. He grew up to be a state leader of student and youth movements. He was a teacher of politics in various SN colleges. He had also served as a member of the CPI State Executive Committee, a member of the Kerala University Syndicate and the Deputy Mayor of the Kollam Corporation.
