Nurse found charred to death in Punalur

PUNALUR: In what appeared to be a case of suicide, a woman was found charred to death in her house in Punalur. The deceased has been identified as Liji John (34), wife of Ilambal native Aji John. Liji was a nurse at a private hospital.

The incident took place around 4 pm on Tuesday. It was Aji's parents who discovered Liji's body when they returned after their employment guarantee scheme work. Neighbours said that Liji was seen talking to her children Aaromal and Aazon till 2.30 pm. The children then went to an online tuition class. When the children returned, the door was closed. The children then informed their relatives about this.

Following this, Aji's parents rushed to the house and the body was seen lying in the kitchen. Police reached the area and shifted the body to the taluk hospital mortuary. The postmortem will take place today. Her husband Aji is an employee of a private hospital in Kollam.
