Death of Archana: Husband released after taken into custody, kin protests

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Relatives protest alleging the investigation on the incident of a young woman setting herself on fire is ineffective. Archana's husband Suresh taken into police custody and questioned was released last night. The relatives protested against this. Her relatives alleged that her husband has a role in her death.

Locals and relatives protested with the body on Vizhinjam-Thiruvananthapuram road. The ambulance carrying the body was placed across the road. Kovalam MLA Vincent and others reached the spot and spoke to the protesters and the police.

They withdrew from their protests after police assured them that he will be taken into custody.. Thiruvananthapuram tehsildar assured that the faults would be solved and that the statements of her parents will be taken and Suresh will be questioned in detail.

She set herself on fire using diesel. She had died on the spot itself. Her death was confirmed after taking her to a nearby hospital. Her body was later shifted to the mortuary of the medical college hospital. After post mortem the body was handed over to her relatives.
