One year old dies after falling into fish tank in front of house

ANCHAL: Shreyas (one and a half years old), son of Vishnu and Shruthi of Valiyakattil Veedu in Palamukku, died after falling into a fish tank in front of the house. The accident took place at 2.30 pm yesterday.

Vishnu runs an ornamental fish market in Panachavila near his house. At the time of the accident, Shruthi had gone to give food to Vishnu after putting the child to sleep in the cradle. Only Vishnu's mother and the boy's elder brother, seven-year-old Shravan, were at home. Shravan was watching TV. The boy got out of the cradle and slipped and fell into the water when he approached the tank near the house. Cement water tanks have been constructed in front of the house for raising fish.

When Shruthi returned, she did not see the baby in the cradle. During the subsequent search, the grandmother found the child lying in the fish tank. Locals and parents rushed the boy to a private hospital in Anchal, but he was pronounced dead. His body is at Angel St. Joseph Mission Hospital Mortuary. The body will be cremated today after the postmortem. Anchal police took further action.
