KOCHI: Police officer Ajeesh Paul, who was attacked while on Covid-19 duty, was discharged from hospital. When he was taken to the Aluva Rajagiri Hospital he had lost the ability to speak and move his right arm and leg. Then the head of the neurosurgery department, Dr. Jagat Lal Gangadharan led a six-hour operation.

After the surgery, Ajeesh Paul was transferred to a ventilator. Following the attack, Ajeesh's skull had broken and a blood clot formed in the brain. Speech impairment is caused by an injury to the left side of the brain. He had to stay on the ventilator for six days.

Subsequent physiotherapy and speech therapy treatments resulted in him getting his speech and limb mobility back to some extent.

Ajeesh Paul was unable to communicate many things in his memory due to a damage to the language center in his brain. He will need speech therapy for at least another six months.

Ajeesh Paul, a policeman at Marayoor station, was injured on the head after an attack on June 1 while on duty. Kovilkadavu native Sulaiman beat up SHO Ratheesh GS and Ajeesh for questioning him for not wearing a mask.
