KOCHI: The high court has granted anticipatory bail to filmmaker Ayesha Sultana in the sedition case. She was charged with sedition following her bio-weapon remarks during a channel discussion related to governance reforms in Lakshadweep. The island government also produced documents in the high court alleging that Ayesha, who reached Lakshadweep, had violated quarantine norms.
The court in an interim order had directed Ayesha Sultana to appear before the inquiry team. The court also directed to release her on bail if arrested. Ayesha was released yesterday after being questioned by Lakshadweep police in Kavaratti for three days.
Ayesha Sultan told media that she was happy with the court's decision and would continue to fight for the rights of the people of Lakshadweep. The word that fell from her mouth was corrected the very next day. She said she has good faith in the law. She said that she doesn’t want these people to take such action against those who raise voices.
She said she has no complaints on Lakshadweep police questioning her. The case is a conspiracy. However, the police did their job. She said she came forward to overcome the problems of the country. Will go forward again. The people are united, she said.
