Suchithra's family accuses her husband's family of mentally torturing her in the name of dowry

ALAPPUZHA: The family members of the 19-year-old woman, who committed suicide at her husband's home, have come up with allegations against the husband's family. Suchithra, the wife of Vishnu, was found hanging at the house in Vallikunnam on Tuesday. The couple got married 3 months ago.

Suchithra's parents alleged their daughter was mentally tortured by Vishnu's mother ever since Vishnu returned to work. 51 sovereigns of gold and a car were given as dowry for the marriage. According to Suchithra's father, Vishnu's mother started torturing Suchithra by demanding an additional Rs 10 lakh.

The family also alleged that the gold given to their daughter was pledged by the husband's family. Suchithra's parents said that when they called their daughter after learning of Vismaya's death in Kollam, she assured them that she would not do anything like that.

The family told the media that Suchithra's marriage took place shortly after her Plus Two as it was mentioned in her horoscope that her marriage would be delayed if it did not take place before the age of 20.
