KOLLAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan visited the house of Vismaya, who committed suicide over dowry harassment. He said a strong response was needed against dowry. The girls should be ready to say ‘no’ to dowry, the governor said.'
The Governor said all girls in Kerala are his children and there are strong laws to thwart bad tendencies. The girls should be ready to abstain from marriage with men who demand dowry, he said.
Meantime, Vismaya's husband Kiran Kumar, arrested in the case was sent to police custody for three days. Forensic surgeon will visit Kiran's house in Poruvazhi where Vismaya was found dead.
Vismaya was found hanging at Kiran Kumar's house under mysterious circumstances. Her parents alleged that Vismaya, a medical student, was mentally tortured by her husband and in-laws in the name of dowry and that she was hanged after the murder.
