Customs to question Sajesh today in Karipur gold smuggling case

KOCHI: The investigating team will question DYFI former regional member C Sajesh in Karipur gold smuggling case. The notice issued has asked him to appear at the customs office in Kochi at 11 am this morning. Sajesh will be questioned along with Arjun Ayangi, who is in the custody of customs and mediator Mohammad Shafeeq.

Sajesh is a gold examiner at the CPM controlled Koyyode Co-operative Bank. The investigation team has received information that he was handling the smuggled gold. The customs had earlier informed the court that Sajesh was Arjun Ayangi's benami. Arjun was using Sajesh's car.

Arjun was arrested for smuggling gold worth Rs one crore from Dubai to Karipur airport. He had arrived at the Karipur airport on the day of the arrest of Mohammad Shafeeq. Shafeeq had given statement that the gold was smuggled as per the instruction of Arjun.
