THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that Aadhar has been misrepresented in a recently released Malayalam film. The movie showed the UIDAI sharing a picture of a person's Aadhaar card with police officers to facilitate the investigation. The UIDAI said this is not only completely wrong but also leads to misunderstanding and confusion among the people about Aadhaar.

'Aadhaar information won't be shared for investigative purposes. The Aadhaar Act applies to the UIDAI and the Authority is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals. Biometric details are not shared with any person or entity for any reason. Do not believe in imaginary and misleading information,' UIDAI said. The authority also requested the public not to share Aadhaar information in any public places.
