Police searched 222 FB accounts to find Reshma’s lover, youth’s statement revealed truth

KOLLAM: The police searched almost 222 Facebook accounts to find Anandu, lover of Reshma, accused in the case of abandoning her new born baby in a heap of dry leaves. She had told the police that she abandoned her baby as per the instruction of her lover whom she had never seen. Following that, the police tried to find him.

Although the police suspected it to be a fake account, the police searched 222 Anandus having Facebook accounts in Kollam, Chathanur, Paravoor and Paripally parts. Of these, three were shortlisted with the help of the cyber cell.

Reshma's cousins Greeshma and Arya committed suicide when the investigation was going on. With this, an investigation was carried around them. The police got crucial evidence in a probe focusing on their phones. Greeshma had called a number just before committing suicide and that number belonged to a youth, who was a close friend of Greeshma. After questioning the youth, the police found out that it was Greeshma and Arya who had chatted with Reshma under the name Anandu.
