Cop and his friend beat auto driver to death over financial dispute in Kochi, two held

KOCHI: A policeman and his friend have been arrested in the case of beating to death an auto driver. DCP Aishwarya Dongre said a dispute over some financial dispute led to the murder.

The two murdered the auto driver Krishna Kumar, a native of Kunnumpuram on Monday evening.

The police have arrested the cop of Kochi A R Camp Bijoy and his friend Faizal.

The cop and his friends were consuming liquor near Peeliyode. They summoned Krishna Kumar to their place. Krishna Kumar had some financial dealings with one among them. A dispute broke out and in a fit of rage murdered him using an iron rod.

The locals informed the police after seeing him lying on the road with injuries. He had died by the time the police reached the spot. The police have taken two others into custody. The police are examining whether more people are involved in the incident.
