Heavy rainfall alert for Kerala today, orange alert in five districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A heavy rainfall is predicted in the state today. Orange alert has been sounded in five districts. India Meteorological Department has sounded orange alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod districts.

Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts have been put on yellow alert. Widespread rain is forecast in various parts of the state till Wednesday.

The government directed district collectors to take precautionary measures. Night travel has been banned in the hilly region. Fishing is also banned.
