Koodathayi model in Palakkad also, woman gets RI for poisoning father-in-law for two years, husband’s grandmother was also not spared

PALAKKAD: A serial murder similar to the Koodathayi model has happened in Palakkad also. A woman tried to kill her father-in-law by giving him methomyl, which is highly toxic, by mixing it in his food. The Ottappalam additional sessions court awarded five years’ rigorous imprisonment to Fazeela, a native of Karimbuzha in Palakkad. A fine of Rs 50,000 has also been imposed on her.

The woman gave her father-in-law Muhammed, the poison from 2013 to 2015. He occasionally experienced diarrhoea and vomiting. Mohammad lodged a complaint with the police after witnessing Fazeela mixing poison in his food one day.

A trace of the poison seized from their house by the forensic was found in Muhammed’s body. The court imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each for murder attempt and for giving poison.

A trial is on in Ottapalam court in the case of murdering her husband’s grandmother. 71-year-old Nabeesa was killed by giving the toxin chlorpyrifos. The incident happened in 2016. Indications are that previous animosity is the reason for the murder.
