Sexual abuse at Palani was fabricated, attempt to extort money, complainants turn accused

PALANI: A case where a native of Tamil Nadu who came from Thalassery to Palani was brutally abused by a three persons in a lodge takes an U-turn as the complainants turn accused. The police have registered a case against Tamil couple residing in Thalassery on the complaint of lodge owner in Adivaram in Palani.

Tamil Nadu police assumes that motive behind the incident is an attempt to extort money through blackmail. The case has been registered for the attempt to extort money by threatening lodge owner and creating ruckus in lodge after getting drunk.

Only Palani police will probe the case that once keep Kerala-Tamil Nadu DGPs on a knife edge. Thalassery police handed over the investigation report including the FIR to the Palani police.


Details regarding a call to the lodge owner demanding money to solve abuse case have also surfaced. The move to find the person behind the call has been started.

Police have also collected the call records of the complainants. It is learnt that they have received crucial information. After a two-day investigation, the Palani police left Thalassery yesterday. The complainant woman and the person staying with her will be summoned to Palani for evidence collection.

The complainants had booked a room in Palani on the 19th of last month claiming to be a mother and son.

The next day, the two got drunk and got into a fight. The youth left after the woman. On the 25th, they returned to take the Aadhar card.
