Lockdown relaxations: Ensure that Covid norms are followed, police instructed to be on strict vigil

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Anil Kant has directed the district police chiefs to ensure strict compliance with the Covid norms as shops are allowed to open for three consecutive days in connection with Bakrid.

The maximum number of people who can enter places of worship these days is set at forty. To ensure this, all district police chiefs, sub-divisional police officers, station house officers will be in constant touch with religious leaders and community representatives. It will be ensured that devotees meet all Covid norms, including social distancing.

There are directions to pay special attention to controlling the congestion in the shops and ensuring that social distance is maintained. The possibility of transmission of the disease should be completely eliminated in consultation with the representatives of the traders. Special attention will be given to C and D category areas. Police announcements will be made to ensure that people maintain social distance in public places. Social media will be used to the fullest to bring this to the people. The co-operation of voluntary organizations will also be utilized for this.

Beat patrol, mobile patrol and women motorcycle patrol units will be on the road at all times. The DGP said that all police personnel would be deployed for this purpose.
