Prasanna’s income will not stop, shop evacuated by GDCA to open again by M A Yusuff Ali’s help

KOCHI: The shop, which was Prasanna's only income to feed her mentally challenged daughter, can be opened again. M A Yusuff Ali, chairman of Lulu Group and a famous businessman, said he would help Prasanna to open the shop on Marine Drive. She was evicted from the shop and a notice was stuck by the GCDA.

The high court had in 2015 ordered her to run the shop after charging floor rent. The rent was Rs 13,800 per month. The shop was built with a loan of Rs 3.5 lakh. She was not able to pay the rent as her income was stopped due to the walkway path renovation, floods and Covid. Following that, the authorities of GCDA stuck eviction notice at the shop and then shifted all her things.

She was staging a strike against this. MLA T J Vinod reported her plight to the office of the Local Self Government Minister. In the meanwhile, Yusuff Ali came with a helping hand. He said Prasanna will pay the full amount. GCDA chairman said it would not be difficult for Prasanna to open the shop if she pays the required amount.
