NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court harshly criticized the Kerala government for easing restrictions in view of Bakrid despite Covid threat. The court criticized saying easing curbs due to pressure is pathetic.
The government shouldn’t have succumbed to pressure during the pandemic. It is a mistake to have eased curbs in places where the transmission of the disease is high. The court observed that the relaxations in Category D areas are alarming. The court also warned that action would be taken if the relaxations lead to transmission of the disease.
The court also warned against violating the right to life. If the plea would have filed earlier, the relaxations would have been revoked. The apex court informed that the order is not being revoked in this late hour. Meantime, the state government explained that the curbs were eased after assessing the present situation.
The plea was filed by a Keralite in Delhi P K D Nambiar against easing of curbs in view of Bakrid. Kerala filed the affidavit yesterday following the direction of the Supreme Court.
