KOCHI: The Lakshadweep police informed the high court that Aisha Sultana is not cooperating with the investigation in the sedition case registered against her for her controversial statement that the centre had used bio-weapons against the people of Lakshadweep. She had also deleted the messages and chats from her mobile phone after the case was registered.
The explanation is on the plea filed by Aisha seeking quashing of the sedition case. Aisha made the controversial remark during a channel discussion. She was seen looking on her phone and reading in between the discussion. It is clear that she was talking on the channel while communicating with someone else. The police explained that there is some mystery in her financial dealings and that she is not handing over the documents.
Aisha had alleged that the centre had used Covid as a bio-weapon against the people of Lakshadweep. This is a reference enough to incite hatred and animosity among the people against the central government and to lead the people to aggression. In that case, the sedition case registered against Aisha will stand, the police said. The investigation is at an early stage. Aisha had sought an interim demand seeking a stay in the investigation on the plea to quash the case. However, the court did not allow it.
