Murder accused hacked to death; two taken into custody, four absconding

BALARAMAPURAM: A youth, who was accused in several criminal cases, was hacked to death. The deceased has been identified as Naruvamoodu native Aneesh(28) alias Kakka Aneesh. He was a murder convict who got released from jail 20 days ago.

Following the incident, the police arrested two accused from a hideout in Kanjirampara. Country-made grenades were also recovered from them. Police said that there were four more members in the gang who are yet to be apprehended. The incident took place on Saturday night. The primary conclusion of the police was that the feud between the gangs led to the murder.

The murder took place inside the Amal Holobricks and Tiles Company in Naruvamoodu, which was closed following the Covid crisis. The accused first hacked Aneesh's legs to prevent him from running away. Police said that there were several cuts on Aneesh's body.

Aneesh, who was named an accused in the murder of Marayamuttam Jose years ago, was in jail under the KAPPA Act. He was released 20 days ago. There are 26 cases against him in Naruvamoodu, Nemom, Malayinkeezhu, Marayamuttam and Neyyattinkara stations. His father Mohanan told police that Aneesh was at home till 6 pm on Saturday. Naruvamoodu police have received a complaint that he had broken into a house at Kulangarakonam around 7.30 pm on Saturday and beat up a housewife and stole her necklace.

Locals informed the police that they had heard screams from the Holobricks company at 9.30 pm on Saturday. The probe is also focusing on other gangs that arrived in the area the previous day.
