THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bevco's decision to increase the price of foreign-made liquor in the state has been frozen. The action was taken following the opposition from the government. Warehouse rates and retail margins had risen sharply. For leading brands, the price has gone up by around Rs 1,000. The government expressed dissatisfaction with Bevco's unilateral decision.
Bevco had explained that the price was increased as part of measures to offset the loss of revenue during the Covid period. However, prices of Indian-made foreign liquor, beer, and wine remained unchanged.
