Tamil Nadu makes negative RT-PCR reports mandatory for those coming from Kerala

covid

CHENNAI: Following the recent increase in the number of Covid cases, Tamil Nadu has made it mandatory for those coming from Kerala to carry a negative RT-PCR report to enter the state. Those people travelling from Kerala to Tamil Nadu will have to carry negative RT-PCR reports which are not older than 72 hours at the time of arrival. This rule is applicable to air travellers as well. However, exemptions are available for those who have received the vaccine.

Exemptions have been granted to those who have taken two doses of the Covid vaccine 14 days prior to their journey. They need to do show the vaccination certificate instead of a negative RT-PCR report. The body temperature of the passengers will be checked at the airport. Those with high temperatures will be subjected to rapid RT-PCR testing. For this, a special system has been set up at airports in Tiruchirappalli and Chennai where results will be available within 13 minutes.

Meanwhile, stringent checking will take place at the border regions. A special alert has been issued to all the districts bordering Kerala.
