B Sandhya promoted to DGP rank

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fire Force Chief VB Sandhya has been promoted to the rank of DGP. She will continue to be the Fire Force Chief even after becoming the DGP. State police chief Anil Kant had written to the government demanding that Sandhya should be given the rank of DGP.

When ADGP Anil Kant was appointed as the state police chief, he was also given the rank of DGP. Kant was given the rank of DGP that Sandhya should have got. With this, Anil Kant got the DGP rank while Sandhya, a senior official, remained as ADGP. This had led to a controversy.
