Fetus of 14-year-old girl dies; was abducted and sexually abused, says girl

KOTTAYAM: The fetus of a 14-year-old girl, who was admitted to a medical college hospital in critical condition due to excessive bleeding, has died. The girl had given a statement to the police that she had been abducted by a man in a car and drugged and tortured while selling handicrafts months ago.

Kanjirapally DySP KL Sajimon said that there was some mystery regarding the case and that the investigation was going on.

The girl was staying at her home in Kottayam with her mother and her 12-year-old brother. Her mother works in a fish market. The girl and her brother used to make and sell handicrafts made of coconut shells.

Doctors said the fetus, which was five months old, was dead. DNA samples of the fetus and the girl were collected. Police said the girl will be subjected to counseling.
